Geri Garvin is an ASHA certified and New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with over 30 years of clinical and educational experience. For more than 20 years, she has specialized in the Orton-Gillingham approach, supporting students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences through structured, explicit literacy instruction.

As an SLP, Geri brings extensive knowledge of how oral language forms the foundation for reading and writing. Her expertise includes phonological awareness, phonemic processing, language comprehension, expressive and receptive language development, and the critical connection between speech and print.

She understands the intricate relationship between phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and orthography — and how weaknesses in language processing can impact decoding, spelling, fluency, and comprehension. Her background allows her to identify not just that a child is struggling, but why.

Geri integrates evidence-based practices in structured literacy with her deep understanding of working memory, auditory processing, and language organization — ensuring intervention is diagnostic, prescriptive, and tailored to each learner's cognitive and linguistic profile.

She also specializes in working with gifted and talented children, providing individualized, enriching instruction that nurtures advanced thinking, creativity, and a deep love of learning.

Additionally trained in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy through Joy Moeller and the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT), with over 10 years of practice.
